ENTRY II.39 · APPLICATION SCAFFOLDING
Starter kits
Package · first recorded February 2025, with Laravel 12 (monitor:710, 376); replacing Breeze and Jetstream
Four scaffolds for a new application: React, Vue and Svelte over Inertia, or Livewire with Flux. Each lays down auth, a dashboard and settings as code in your repo, not a package: Fortify by default, or a WorkOS AuthKit variant with SSO and passkeys.
Specification
Kind Scaffold copied into the application; no package to upgrade
Interface laravel new, which prompts; --using for a community kit on Packagist
Client React 19, Vue 3 or Svelte 5 with Inertia 3; Livewire 4 with Flux UI
Installed by laravel new my-app · npm install && npm run build · composer run dev
Voice none (route:list shows the Fortify routes)
Scales by Not a runtime concern; it is your code from the first commit
Range Cloud: yes; Cloud can create an app from a starter kit
Forge, VPS: yes, it is an ordinary Laravel app
Vapor: yes. An ordinary app; Inertia SSR aside
Neighbours
Breeze and Jetstream were the earlier kits; their role passed to these. Fortify is the auth backend inside every kit, and a WorkOS AuthKit variant adds SSO and passkeys. A kit is code you own, not a dependency: once generated there is nothing to upgrade, and the docs say there is no need to.

Parts
1 Installer. laravel new my-app asks which kit and which auth; --using takes any community kit on Packagist.
2 Fortify. Login, registration, reset, verification, 2FA and rate limits as routes, with actions in app/Actions/Fortify.
3 Frontend. resources/js for the Inertia kits (pages, layouts, shadcn components) or resources/views with Flux.
4 Teams, optional: a personal team at registration, /{current_team}/dashboard routes, invitations and switching.
5 WorkOS variant. AuthKit through laravel/workos in place of Fortify: social login, passkeys, magic links and SSO.
6 Layouts. Sidebar or header for the app; simple, card or split for the auth pages, chosen by editing one layout file.
Hidden joinery
The Inertia kits use Wayfinder for typed routes, generated at build time, so a disabled Fortify feature must also be removed from the frontend or the build fails. Email verification is off until MustVerifyEmail is uncommented on the User model. With WorkOS the docs advise turning off passwords in AuthKit entirely.
