A FIELD GUIDE TO LARAVEL · VOLUME II · THE ECOSYSTEM
ENTRY II.43 · SERVER PROVISIONING
Laravel VPS
Product · first recorded 1 October 2025, with the relaunched Forge
Servers sold by Forge itself: Ubuntu machines on DigitalOcean's infrastructure, provisioned in seconds, with root access, a terminal in the browser and one bill. $6 a month at launch, charged in whole hours while the server exists.
Specification
Kind Product. A Forge server provider, run by Laravel
Engine Ubuntu on DigitalOcean infrastructure, provisioned and billed by Forge
Runs on A Forge server: the stack Forge installs, the same as any provider
Installed by Forge → Servers → New server → Laravel VPS
Voice none. The Forge dashboard, CLI and API
Scales by Plans by vCPU, RAM and storage; add servers and network them by public IP
Range Cloud: n/a: Cloud is the alternative, not a host for it
Forge, VPS: this is it: a Forge server that Laravel sells you
Vapor: n/a: Vapor is serverless; nothing to provision
Neighbours
A linked provider account gives Forge the same kind of Ubuntu server, at that provider's prices and regions. Laravel Cloud has no server of yours at all. The distinction: a Laravel VPS is bought through Forge itself, provisioned in seconds and billed on the Forge invoice.

Parts
1 Forge, the control plane. One click, no provider account to link; the server is usually ready in under ten seconds.
2 Laravel VPS. An Ubuntu machine on DigitalOcean's infrastructure, sold by Forge and billed by the hour it exists.
3 The stack. What Forge puts on any server it provisions: web server, PHP, database, cache, supervised workers.
4 Your site, deployed from Git, with zero-downtime deployments switched on by default for sites created in the new Forge.
5 Terminal. SSH in the browser from any server or site page, Control and backtick, shared with teammates in real time.
6 Metrics, live CPU, memory, disk and bandwidth charts on the Observe tab; Laravel VPS, Hetzner and DigitalOcean only.
Hidden joinery
Billing is in whole hours: five minutes counts as one. Bandwidth is included under fair use. Mail ports 25, 465 and 587 are blocked by default; use an HTTP mail API or ask support. A DigitalOcean droplet migrates by snapshot, Ubuntu 24.04 only, and comes back with a new IP, so DNS and firewall rules follow.
